“As a deer longs for the living brooks: so longs my soul for you Oh My God. My Soul is thirsty for the living God: When shall I come to see his face? (Ps 42:1-2)” This might have been the prayer and wish of Mrs. Bernice Quartey, class One teacher of ace Journalist Emmanuel Akorli of Almighty Peace FM over the years.
Mrs Quartey, 80, had been monitoring her class one pupil, Emmanuel Akorli, who also doubles as Senior Parliamentary Correspondent for the radio station over the years. Subsequently, she sent an emissary to track Akorli, popularly known as “Citizen” in the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPC), both from Parliament and Peace FM.
SOS Message
Having found him, the emissary, one Robert, informed Citizen that his class one teacher, Mrs Quartey, who had turned 80, should like to see him on her 80th Birthday celebration scheduled at the Baptist Church, Teshie Accra.
At Beck And Call:

Receiving the message with gladness, Citizen, with zeal, alacrity and enthusiasm laced his boot for the occasion. This is because, like our Biblical quotation above, Citizen also longed to see his class One Teacher who had nurtured and tutored him about 40 years ago at the Apenkwa Shiayernnoh 3 Primary School in Accra School.
Alone Is Miserable; United We Stand:
With a sense of Selflessness, “the Oboror” Emm. Akorley of Peace FM shared the message at piece meals with two of his fellow class one pupils under Mrs. Quartey tutorage for the occasion, which rather took place at the Hope Baptist Church Chantan near Abeka Lapaz. They are, Emmanuel Kwame Adolague and Bernard Nartey.
Happy Union:
With mixed feelings amidst tears of joy, 80-year old Mrs Bernice Quartey finally met with her once upon a time class one pupils, Akorli, Adolaquey and Nartey, who she had nurtured and tutored 40 years ago, and now turned big boys in their own ways.
God With Us:
Either by design or coincidence, Mrs Quartey has two (2) of her pupils named, Emmanuel — Akorley and Adolaquey, Emmanuel biblically meaning “God with us!” “Does it appear strange then that Mrs Quartey, having tutored these three pupils 40 years ago, to become big boys in society, still looks young and strong at 80?” queried an observer.
Gratitude, Citation:

Showing their gratitude and appreciation to their class One teacher for having brought them this far, the three pupils turned big boys presented their teacher with a citation. Readers may recall that in our edition, we published seriously that Mad. Quartey wanted to see her once class one pupil, Emm. Akorley now turned “Oboror” at Peace FM and in the Media Circles.
