The Member of Parliament for Daffiama-Bussie-Issa,
Dr. Sebastian Sandare, has challenged students to pursue entrepreneurship and prepare themselves for leadership roles to drive development in the Upper West Region and beyond.
Speaking under the theme “The Role of Youth in Leadership and Development in the Upper West Region,” Dr. Sandare emphasized that good health is the foundation for academic excellence and personal growth.
He encouraged students to pursue their dreams with determination regardless of their background, stressing that “life’s struggles are temporary and that perseverance ultimately leads to success.”
On unemployment, the MP urged students to look beyond government jobs and embrace entrepreneurship.
“Developing innovative business ideas and creating opportunities for oneself is one of the most effective ways to address unemployment and reduce dependency,” he said.
Dr. Sandare also reiterated President John Mahama’s government vision of supporting young entrepreneurs, noting that targeted support for youth-led businesses will go a long way to reduce unemployment in the country.
On leadership, he called on the youth to actively prepare themselves to become responsible leaders capable of driving sustainable development in their communities.
To back his commitment, Dr. Sandare pledged financial support to students from his constituency and the Upper West Region who present viable entrepreneurial ideas with the potential to create jobs.
In recognition of his insights and commitment to youth empowerment, the Upper West Students’ Union of KNUST presented him with a citation of honour.
“Let’s continue to mentor and inspire our students in leadership and entrepreneurship,” Dr. Sandare stated.
According to him Health is foundation for academic and personal success and with
Entrepreneurship, one is ready to solving youth unemployment, and “the Youth must prepare to drive community development”.
Dr. Sandare made the call on Saturday when he represented the Upper West Parliamentary Caucus as Guest Speaker at a public lecture organized by the Upper West Students’ Union of KNUST.
