Member of Parliament for Kpando, Sebastian Deh, has distributed 1,200 bags of fertiliser to farmers across the Kpando Municipality.
The distribution exercise took place on Thursday at Kpando-Dzoanti, the MP’s home base.
According to the MP, the intervention is aimed at making farming profitable again in the municipality where at least a third of the population is engaged in farming.
“In Kpando Municipality, agriculture employs 32% of our people and over 80% of farming activities are done by smallholder farmers. So this support is our way of making farming profitable again,” he stated.
Mr. Deh said the initiative aligns with President Mahama’s Feed Ghana Programme (2025-2028) and the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda, which is investing GH¢1.6 billion in agriculture – GH¢515 million for fertiliser and seeds and GH¢581 million for 50 Farmers Service Centres for mechanisation services.
He noted that several development projects are currently ongoing in the constituency, including roads, schools, clinics and streetlights distribution.
“Currently in Kpando, we also have a number of projects running; roads, schools, clinics and streetlights distribution, because Kpando deserves development and I am fully committed to these with the support of my MCE and other stakeholders,” he added.
The MP assured farmers who could not benefit from the current distribution that they would be considered in the next phase.
“To farmers who didn’t benefit from today’s fertiliser distribution we’ll see you soon, next time will be your turn. We remain committed to doing novel things with your support!” he said.
