Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment signed two landmark Memoranda of Understanding aimed at equipping Ghanaian youth with skills, jobs, and values for the future.
The Minister, George Opare-Addo for the Ministry sealed partnerships with the Design and Technology Institute (DTI) and the Christian Council of Ghana in what officials are calling a major step toward tackling youth unemployment and building a more principled workforce.
The MoU with DTI will focus on industry-driven skills training and employability.
The goal is to connect young people directly to sectors that are hiring, with training aligned to market needs.
This is expected to boost entrepreneurship and create pathways to both local and international employment.
Christian Council Partnership – Values, Volunteerism and Wellbeing:
With the Christian Council, the Ministry will leverage the Council’s nationwide church network to promote:
– Volunteerism and national values
– Responsible digital citizenship
– Substance abuse prevention
– Psychosocial support for young people
The collaboration specifically targets inclusive opportunities for:
– Women
– Persons with disabilities
– Vulnerable youth
– Underserved communities
The Ministry will lead policy direction, while DTI and the Christian Council will handle technical implementation, workforce development, and community engagement.
The Minister says the partnerships reflect a shared commitment to “unlocking the vast potential of Ghana’s youth” and building a workforce that is skilled, principled, and globally competitive.
This comes at a time when youth employment and skills mismatch remain top policy priorities for Ghana. By combining technical training with values-based community outreach, the Ministry is trying to address both the hard skills and soft support young people need.
