The Member of Parliament for Wa East, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has donated GH₵75,000 from his share of the Common Fund to the Wa East District Assembly to support emergency road repairs and the opening of critical roads across the district.

The funds will be used to fuel grader machines and improve accessibility in communities cut off by poor road conditions. Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Assembly, District Chief Executive Hon. Adamu Sayibu thanked the MP for his continued collaboration and assured residents that the money would be used strictly for its intended purpose.

“The money would be used for its intended purpose to help open up some critical roads and tackle emergency road repair works for improved accessibility and accelerated development of the district,” Hon. Sayibu said.

Traditional Council commends leadership:

The donation has drawn praise from the Manwe Traditional Council, which issued a message of gratitude to both Hon. Jasaw and Hon. Sayibu for what it described as “unwavering commitment to the progress of our district.”

Paramount Chief of Manwe, Naa Alhaji Yussif Abubakari Wiah (I), said the road funding was one of several recent milestones improving lives in the area. Others include the commissioning of a newly constructed 3-unit classroom block in Manwe, completed in four months instead of the scheduled eight, and the donation of 1,000 pieces of school furniture to the District Director of Education.

“We are deeply moved by these recent milestones that directly impact the lives of our people,” the Chief stated. “This vital funding for fueling grader machines and opening roads will significantly improve accessibility and development across our district.”

Promise of stewardship:

The Traditional Council pledged to ensure the new facilities are properly maintained so they serve students and the wider community long-term.

“As traditional leaders, we take to heart the call to ensure these facilities are properly cared for,” Naa Alhaji Wiah said. “Your continuous collaboration and commitment to education and infrastructure development are truly felt by the people of Wa East.”

The Wa East MP has consistently channeled part of his Common Fund allocation toward education and infrastructure projects, positioning road connectivity and school infrastructure as priorities for accelerated development in the district.
