The Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Economy and Development, Eric Afful, has praised the government’s decision to remove certain taxes on petroleum products, saying it’s a welcome relief for the poorr.
Afful believes the move aligns with the NDC’s commitment to good governance and benefiting ordinary citizens.
The Cabinet’s decisions include removing taxes and margins on fuel, effective from next week for four weeks, and deploying 100 buses for Metro Mass Transit to offer lower fares.
Ministers and senior officials have also had their fuel allowances scrapped.
“This is a bold step by the government to cushion Ghanaians amidst rising fuel prices,” Afful said in an interview.
