*“Removing Financial Barriers”*
The Ministry of Health says the package targets early detection and prevention, areas where cost often stops people from seeking care.
By covering doorstep NCD checks, school health screening, and basic cancer awareness, the programme aims to reduce late-stage diagnoses and out-of-pocket spending.
Free Primary Healthcare is a core pillar of Ghana’s roadmap to Universal Health Coverage, with an emphasis on community-level access.
Services will be delivered through existing health facilities, CHPS compounds, and outreach teams.
If you or your family need basic screenings, child health checks, contraception services, or counselling for mental health and menstrual disorders, these are now listed as free under the programme.
The inclusion of “at your doorstep” services for blood pressure, sugar, and BMI points to expanded community screening campaigns.
Further details on rollout dates, participating districts, and access points are expected from the Ghana Health Service.
