With less than a month to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, corporate Ghana have intensified contributions to the Black Stars World Cup Fund, with a number of companies making significant donations.

Ghana Gas Limited led the contributions by redeeming a pledge of five million Ghana Cedis (Gh¢5,000,000) to support the national team’s impending participation at the World Cup next month.

Other contributors on the day were Ecobank Ghana Limited (Gh¢3,000,000), Zijin Golden Ridge Limited (Gh¢1,130,000) and Absa Bank (Gh¢1,000,000), in demonstration of commitment to the success of the Black Stars on the global stage.

Deputy Finance Minister and Chairman of the Black Stars World Cup Fundraising Committee, Thomas Nyarko Ampem who received the donations at the Ministry of Finance in Accra, also accepted a symbolic presentation of Gh¢250,000 from OmniBSIC Bank
Receiving the donations, the Deputy Minister expressed appreciation to the donors for showing commitment and love for the Black Stars.

He appealed to others who have pledged to redeem their pledges and reminded others that the door was still open for more contributions before the end of this month.

The donations forms part of a growing wave of financial backing aimed at strengthening Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following the official launch of the fundraising initiative by President John Dramani Mahama in March, targeting $30 million from corporate Ghana and the general public.

The Ministry of Finance has announced that it will receive pledges and contributions from Corporate Ghana and individuals every Thursday to support the Black Stars’ preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
