The Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District has secured a major boost in Technical and Vocational Education with the final approval of Bussie Technical Institute to commence operations this academic year.
The announcement was made by MP for Daffiama-Bussie-Issa, Sebastian Sandarre during a ceremony at the Bussie Chief’s Palace on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
The event was attended by chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, and other stakeholders.
According to the MP, the approval comes after “months of lobbying and relentless push” and is in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of making TVET a central pillar of national development.
“After months of lobbying and relentless push, I am happy to announce that Bussie Technical Institute has received final approval to commence operations in this academic calendar,” Sandarre stated.
The
Regional TVET Coordinator, Saaka Adams, confirmed the approval in accordance with the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 [Act 1023].
Hon. Sandarre said the new institute aligns with government’s target to increase TVET enrollment to 20% in the short term through expanded infrastructure, modern training facilities, and stronger industry partnerships.
“The future of our youth depends on a skilled and adaptable workforce.
TVET provides direct job and labour market alignment, making it essential for reforms in our district and the country as a whole,” he added.
The MP noted that this makes two TVET schools secured for the district in 2026 alone, with Daffiama Technical Institute also set to begin operations this academic year.
“This milestone is a big win for Daffiama-Bussie-Issa and a testament to government’s commitment to skills development and youth empowerment,” he said.
Hon. Sandarre called on constituents to remain united as the district pushes for more development projects.
