State-owned oil marketing company GOIL has announced a reduction in fuel prices nationwide following a presidential directive, with new rates taking effect from 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 4th August 2026.
The price cut covers petrol and diesel and comes amid public pressure over the recent astronomical increases by other Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
New GOIL Pump Prices under the revised prices:
– Super XP Petrol: GH¢15.99 per litre
– Diesel XP: GH¢17.26 per litre
– Super XP 95: GH¢17.77 per litre
In a statement, GOIL urged motorists to “Visit your nearest GOIL station today and continue to enjoy quality fuels, nationwide service and exceptional value.”
The reduction follows projections by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) that fuel prices would rise in the current pricing window due to higher global crude prices and cedi depreciation.
However, the presidential directive to GOIL to review its prices downward is expected to provide some relief to consumers and businesses, and could trigger similar adjustments by other OMCs.
The move aimed at cushioning Ghanaians from the impact of rising transport and food costs linked to fuel.
The current bi-weekly pricing window runs until 15th August 2026, with the next review expected on 16th August.
GOIL’s price drop sets it apart from the industry-wide increases announced on August 1, giving consumers a cheaper option at the pumps from Tuesday morning.
