The inflation rate in Ghana eased slightly in March 2025, falling to 22.4% year-on-year from 23.1% in February, primarily due to a reduction in food costs, the Ghana Statistical Service reported on Wednesday.

Professor Samuel Kobina Annim, the Government Statistician, explained during a press conference that food inflation saw a sharper decline, dropping by 1.6 percentage points, while non-food inflation experienced a marginal decrease of 0.1 percentage points between February and March 2025.

The March inflation rate of 22.4% is the lowest observed in the past four months, with the inflation rate gradually decreasing from a peak of 23.8% to 23.5%, 23.1%, and finally 22.4% in March.

Food inflation, although still high, decreased to 26.5% in March from 28.1% in February. Meanwhile, non-food inflation saw a slight decrease, settling at 18.7% compared to February’s 18.8%.

On a monthly basis, inflation remained subdued, with overall prices rising by just 0.2% in March. Notably, food prices declined by 0.2% month-on-month, suggesting a potential slowdown in food inflation. However, non-food inflation saw a slight acceleration, increasing by 1.3% compared to February’s 0.9%.
