The Ketu North Municipal Assembly has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with an Accra-based Modern Construction firm to undertake two major projects: the redevelopment of the Dzodze Old Market into a modern shopping centre and the construction of the landmark Akanu ECOWAS Market Complex.

The Dzodze Old Market redevelopment will replace the current dilapidated stores at the entrance of the market with a state-of-the-art three-storey shopping facility.

This project is said not just about modernizing infrastructure but also about revitalizing economic activity, boosting business confidence, and positioning Dzodze as a commercial centre that reflects the ambition and growth of Ketu North.

According to the MCE for the area, Rev. Martin Amenaki on Facebook said, “equally transformative is the proposed ECOWAS Market Complex, which will sit on a 50.2-acre parcel of land strategically located near the Akanu border.

Designed to be a regional hub, the market will feature modern facilities such as parking spaces, clean washrooms, sleeping quarters for traders, a police post, and a fire station”.

This redevelopment will enhance cross-border trade, create jobs, and establish Ketu North as a key player in regional commerce, he mentioned.

The MCE stressed that, “these projects go beyond physical infrastructure: they represent opportunity, dignity, and legacy for the people of Ketu North. With the grace of God and the collective support of all stakeholders, I am confident that these bold initiatives will soon take shape.

This is the future “we are building: a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Ketu North for generations to come”.

The MoU was witnessed by Municipal Coordinating Director, Jasper Adenyo, and the Presiding Member, Edward Seke, and “I had the honour to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Modern Construction Company, a reputable Accra-based firm, at the Imperial Peking Chinese Restaurant in Accra”.
