Former Local Government Minister and respected academic, Professor Kwamena Ahwoi, has issued a firm disclaimer over false reports being circulated by some NPP communicators, claiming he had questioned the integrity of President John Dramani Mahama.
The reports, which originated from comments allegedly made by Kwamena Duncan of the NPP on Peace FM, suggested that Prof. Ahwoi had criticised the Attorney-General’s decision to withdraw an appeal in the Ambulance Case pending before the Supreme Court.
In a statement released on Friday, October 18, Prof. Ahwoi described the allegations as total fabrications and completely false, stressing that he had never appeared on Peace FM nor made any comments about the matter.
“I have neither made an appearance on Peace FM nor made any comments of the sort,” he said.
He condemned the reports as a deliberate attempt by NPP communicators to mislead the public and drag his name into needless political controversy. According to him, the NPP and its communicators are clutching at any straw to remain relevant, resorting to untruths and reckless commentary to gain attention.
Prof. Ahwoi called on Ghanaians to disregard the false reports and take note of what he described as the careless and desperate conduct of those spreading such misleading claims. He said such behaviour only exposes the NPP’s growing reliance on fabrications and character attacks rather than facts and ideas in national debate.
