At the opening of the Second Meeting of the Board of the African Parliamentarians’ Network Against Corruption (APNAC-Africa) in Kigali,Rwanda,the Chairman of APNAC-Africa and Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, called for stricter parliamentary vigilance in the fight against corruption across the continent.
He explained that since the new leadership assumed office, APNAC-Africa has embraced a renewed vision to build a stronger, more visible, more united, and more impactful parliamentary movement against corruption in Africa. According to him, the Network is being re

positioned as a leading parliamentary platform for nurturing integrity, accountability, transparency, and democratic governance, while also promoting solidarity and peer support among African parliamentarians.
The Speaker, in his address, encouraged members to remain candid but conciliatory in their engagements, stressing the importance of constructive criticism and a shared commitment to making corruption an endangered species in Africa. He urged participants to approach discussions with openness and determination so that APNAC-Africa could emerge as a credible and influential voice in governance and anti-corruption efforts.

He noted that the collective efforts of members were essential in transforming the Network into a vibrant, responsive, visible, and impactful institution capable of supporting national chapters, influencing reforms, strengthening parliamentary oversight, and shaping policy discussions across the continent.

The APNAC-Africa Chairman further appealed to Board Members and the wider membership to work together with renewed energy and commitment toward the common goal of transparent and accountable governance. He highlighted the upcoming African Anti-Corruption Day on July 11 as an important opportunity for the Network to demonstrate its relevance and unity through advocacy, public engagement, youth outreach, parliamentary action, and renewed dedication to integrity.
