On April 16, 2026, traditional leaders and representatives from Fume Avetime in the Ho West Constituency of the Volta Region paid a courtesy call on the Administrator (CEO) of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications(GIFEC), Mr. Tanko Rashid-Computer and the leadership of the Fund to highlight key challenges in telecommunications and education.
The delegation included Hon. Gertrude Adzo Borklo, Mr. Randy Noah Aveh, Onetsie Sewornu Gbexede II, Mr. Dickson Kafui Gbexede, Mad. Edna Ethel Aveh, and Mr. Justice Noah Gbexede.
They raised concerns about poor network connectivity affecting communication and digital access, and appealed for improved ICT infrastructure at the Community Vocational School to enhance teaching and skills development. The leaders also noted that land has already been made available to support GIFEC projects.
In response, the Administrator(CEO), Mr. Tanko Rashid-Computer reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving rural telephony and assured the delegation that GIFEC will follow up, with a technical team expected to visit the community to assess and address the challenges.
The meeting ended with a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration to improve connectivity and ICT development in Fume Avetime.
