The Austrian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Johannes Gleissner, has paid a courtesy call on the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, in Accra. During the meeting, Ambassador Gleissner reaffirmed Austria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and highlighted new opportunities in technical cooperation. He praised Ghana’s stable democracy and parliamentary oversight, expressing a strong desire to deepen trade and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
In his response, Rt. Hon. Speaker Bagbin welcomed the Ambassador’s remarks and lauded Austria’s continued support for Ghana’s development agenda. He emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering international partnerships and called for enhanced collaboration in legislative capacity building. The Speaker also urged for increased Austrian investment in Ghana’s agricultural value chain and renewable energy sectors. “Our Parliament stands ready to create the legislative environment that encourages such partnerships, ensuring they benefit the ordinary Ghanaian citizen,” Speaker Bagbin noted, underscoring the shared values of democracy and good governance between the two countries
