Joshua Hamidu Akamba has extended heartfelt sympathy to Ghanaians affected by the recent floods that have swept through several parts of the country, with Accra recording some of the most severe impacts.
In a statement, Hon. Akamba described the flooding as “devastating and distressing” for families who have lost homes, livelihoods, and personal belongings to the rising waters.
“My thoughts and prayers are with every Ghanaian whose life has been disrupted by these floods. I am especially pained by the situation in Accra, where communities in low-lying areas have borne the brunt of the downpour,” he said.
The former National Organizer noted that areas across the Greater Accra Region have seen homes submerged, roads cut off, and businesses halted, leaving many residents in urgent need of shelter, food, and medical support.
He called on government agencies, NADMO, local authorities, and well-meaning Ghanaians to scale up relief efforts immediately. “This is the time for all of us to stand together. We must prioritize rescue, relief, and the restoration of dignity for those displaced,” Hon. Akamba added.
Hon. Akamba also urged city authorities to intensify drainage works and enforce proper waste disposal to reduce future flood risks as the rains intensify.
He assured victims that their plight has not gone unnoticed and pledged to support ongoing efforts to mobilize aid for the most affected households.
