Volta Regional House of Chiefs pay courtesy call on Foreign Affairs Minister
The Volta Regional House of Chiefs, led by its President and Paramount Chief of Anfoega Traditional Area, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, paid courtesy call on Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Accra, on Wednesday, 12th August 2026.
The President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs and the Paramount Chief of Anfoega Traditional Area, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, indicated that, the purpose of the visit was to provide an opportunity for the House to congratulate the Minister on his birthday and for his appointment as Minister for Foreign Affairs. It was also to strengthen the relationship between the traditional leadership of the Volta Region and the Ministry.
Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed his appreciation to the Chiefs for the visit and for the warm congratulatory messages extended to him on both his birthday and his appointment as Minister for Foreign Affairs. He noted that he did not take the gesture lightly and was particularly grateful that the Chiefs had travelled to Accra to pay the courtesy call, especially as he had initially intended to visit the House of Chiefs himself; an offer which was respectfully declined. He saw the visit as a great privilege to host the traditional leaders at the Ministry, his official workplace.
Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded the delegation and commended Hon. Ablakwa for his dedicated service and contributions to the development of Ghana, and for the keen interest he had shown in the development of his constituency, and the Volta Region at large. He noted that, the Volta Region had, for many years, faced challenges with regard to its share of national resources and development opportunities.
He, however, observed that there has been significant changes in recent times, which he associated with the Minister’s efforts and commitment to ensuring that the interests of the region received due attention.
The President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs further praised the Minister for maintaining a strong connection with the region despite his busy national responsibilities and encouraged him to continue championing the interests of the Volta Region while serving the broader interests of Ghana.
