The National Disaster Management Organisation, NADMO, has presented relief items to communities in the Western Region affected by last week’s heavy rains, which left hundreds homeless and farmlands submerged.

The items were received by the Western Regional Director of NADMO, Daniel Darlington Atitso and president to District Chief Executive Officer.
He expressed gratitude to NADMO Headquarters and government for the “quick response” to the affected areas.
Samraboi was among the hardest hit, with hundreds of residents displaced and farmlands under water.
Support was also extended to Wasa Dunkwa, Asankragwa and communities in Nzema East.
Relief items distributed
For Nzema East District: 100 bags of rice, 30 canteens of cooking oil, 500 pieces of mosquito nets, 500 pieces of blankets and 8 bales of used clothes
For Samraboi, Wasa Dunkwa and Asankragwa communities: 100 bags of rice, 30 canteens of cooking oil, 500 pieces of mosquito nets, 500 pieces of blankets and 12 bales of used clothes
Mr. Atitso said the support will provide immediate relief to displaced households while NADMO continues to assess the full extent of damage.
NADMO has urged residents in flood-prone areas to stay alert as rains persist in parts of the region.
