The 7th edition of the Ghana Investment and Trade Week officially opened on Tuesday, 7th July 2026, at the Palms Convention Centre in Accra, bringing together investors, policymakers, business leaders, and exhibitors from several countries.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, participated as a Special Guest at the opening ceremony.
She was accompanied by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations), Lateef Apau Wiredu, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Finance & Administration), Hamidu Sibiri Musah.

The event is being held from 7th to 9th July 2026.
The summit was organized by Middle East International Exhibition Events (MIE Events) under the theme, “Powering Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy for Investment and Trade Competitiveness.” It serves as a strategic platform for cross-border trade, foreign direct investment, and infrastructure-focused dialogue aimed at advancing the Government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda while enhancing Ghana’s investment and trade competitiveness.
The Chairman of MIE Group, David Wang, stated that over the years, the summit has created valuable opportunities for Ghanaian businesses to connect with international investors. He noted that the 2026 edition has attracted more than 100 speakers, over 300 international delegates, exhibitors from more than 10 countries and thousands of planned business engagements.

In her address, Dr. Mary Awusi congratulated the organizers for bringing together a distinguished gathering of policymakers, investors, industry leaders and development partners to engage in meaningful dialogue that will foster strategic partnerships and unlock new opportunities for investment, industrial growth and sustainable development in Ghana and across the African continent.
She noted that the theme of the summit reflects the shared aspiration to build a productive, resilient, and globally competitive economy supported by modern infrastructure, reliable energy, efficient logistics and a vibrant private sector. She stated that this vision aligns strongly with the mandate and strategic direction of the Ghana Free Zones Authority to create an enabling environment that attracts export-oriented investment, promotes value addition, supports industrialization and creates sustainable employment for the people of Ghana.
Dr. Awusi further reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to working with government, investors, and development partners to position Ghana as the preferred destination for export-led industrialization and a key driver of the Government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.
Delivering the keynote address, Hon. Augustus Goosie Tanoh (Esq.), Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy, observed that more than six decades after independence, Ghana continues to export raw materials while importing finished goods. He explained that the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme is designed to transform the economy by increasing domestic production, promoting value addition, and ensuring that Ghana exports more value-added products than it imports.
Notable attendees at the opening ceremony included the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II; the Chairman of the Ghana Chamber of Construction Industry, Nana Opare Kwafo I; the Ambassadors of Egypt and Libya to Ghana; and other members of the diplomatic community.
Other officials from the Authority who attended the summit included the Director of Corporate Affairs, PR & Aftercare, Dr. Patience Agbleze Acorlor; the Director of Marketing & Investment Promotion, Ms. Anita Novi Quashie; the Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs, Bilal Muazu Sulemana; and officers from the Corporate Affairs, PR & Aftercare and Marketing & Investment Promotion Departments.
