Ghana’s economy expanded by 7.7% year-on-year in February 2026, according to the provisional Monthly Indicator of Economic Growth [MIEG] released on May 13, 2026 by GSS in Accra.
The MIEG index rose to 111.3 in February 2026, up from 103.3 in February 2025.
The index measures monthly changes in economic activity across agriculture, industry, and services.
Sector performance:
All three sectors posted growth, but industry and services led the expansion as stated below:
Industry: Grew 9.6%, driven mainly by the mining & quarrying sub-sector contributed 44.2% to overall growth.
Services expanded by 7.4%, with the Information & Communication sub-sector the main driver. Services were the largest contributor, accounting for 47.6% of total growth.
Agriculture has increased 3.8%, supported by the crops and livestock sub-sector. It contributed 5.5% to growth.
The February 2026 MIEG is provisional and subject to revision as more data becomes available. It is published as an experimental statistic and is not seasonally adjusted, so month-on-month rates are not reported.
