Dr. Gabriel Kwamigah-Atokple, aka Chief Tanko, Volta Regional Representative on the Council of State, has told U.S. and diaspora investors that Ghana is “ready for business, not charity.”

He was speaking at the 5th Annual Business Exchange Forum–Invest in Ghana Dialogue in Chicago, where he shared the platform with Simon Madjie, CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Rep. Sonya Harper of the Illinois State Legislature, and other business executives, investors and members of the African Diaspora.

Invest with confidence in Ghana:
“I firmly believe that Ghana is not asking the world for charity; Ghana is inviting the world to do business”, Dr. Kwamigah-Atokple said.
“When investors ask, ‘Where can I invest with confidence and expect sustainable returns?’ my answer remains unequivocal: Ghana.”
He outlined Ghana’s investment case: one of Africa’s largest economies, Africa’s leading gold producer and among the world’s top six gold producers.
Together with Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana also leads global cocoa production.
With the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA, based in Accra, investors have access to a market of more than 1.4 billion people.
He said further opportunities exist in value addition, industrialisation, agribusiness, logistics, tourism, technology and manufacturing.
Spotlight on the Volta Region:
Dr. Kwamigah-Atokple described the Volta Region as “one of Ghana’s best-kept investment destinations,” citing fertile land, abundant water, natural attractions and a peaceful population.
He said the region presents strong prospects in commercial agriculture, agro-processing, tourism, fisheries, manufacturing and hospitality.
“With government advancing plans for a modern port and harbour facility, the Volta Region is poised to become an important gateway for trade and investment in Ghana and across West Africa,” he stated.
He submits, “fortunes are rarely made by following the crowd. They are made by recognising opportunity before everyone else does.”
Dr. Kwamigah-Atokple thanked The Progressive Minds Show and the Forum organisers for bringing together investors and development partners to strengthen Ghana-U.S. economic ties.
“Ghana is open for business. Ghana is ready for public-private partnerships. The Volta Region is ready for investment,” he said.
