Residents of the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa Constituency in the Upper West Region are set to benefit from a free eye screening and cataract surgery outreach organized by Member of Parliament, Dr. Sebastian N. Sandaare, in collaboration with the Eye Centre of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The medical outreach aims to provide eye care services to people suffering from vision-related conditions, particularly cataracts, one of the leading causes of blindness among adults.
According to details released by the organizers, free eye screening will take place from June 10 to June 11, 2026, while cataract surgeries are scheduled for June 11 to June 12, 2026.
The exercise will be held at the Issa Polyclinic, with activities running daily from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Participants have been advised to attend with a valid National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card to facilitate the process.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the MP and healthcare partners to improve access to specialized medical services in rural communities and help restore sight to residents affected by cataracts and other eye conditions.
Health experts have consistently encouraged early eye examinations, noting that timely diagnosis and treatment can prevent avoidable blindness and significantly improve quality of life.
Residents across the constituency and surrounding communities are therefore being urged to take advantage of the free screening and surgical services.
