Member of Parliament for Wa East, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has officially launched a three-day initiative to distribute free reading glasses to teachers and nurses within the constituency. The programme, which started17th June 2026, aims to help address presbyopia, an age-related eye condition that impairs near vision.

The exercise seeks to support frontline professionals who often perform tasks requiring clear close-up vision, such as reading, marking books, and writing reports. A total of 300 reading glasses are being made available to eligible beneficiaries across three communities: Funsi on June 17, Loggu on June 18, and Bulenga on June 19.

The outreach encourages teachers and nurses experiencing blurry near vision, eye strain, or headaches to take advantage of free eye screening and support. “Do you struggle reading close-up?” the campaign asks, urging those affected to participate.

Beneficiaries can obtain further information by contacting the District Director of Health Services or the District Director of Education. The MP’s office emphasizes that this initiative is part of broader efforts to support essential frontline workers in Wa East and improve their productivity and well-being.
