The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has told the Adenta High Court that Council of State Member for the Volta Region Dr. Gabriel Kwamigah-Atokple aka Chief Tanko and directors of Sesi-Edem Company Ltd were never formally declared wanted.
The clarification came in EOCO’s affidavit in opposition to an application for interlocutory injunction filed by Sesi-Edem Company Limited.
In paragraph 19 of the affidavit, EOCO stated that no formal “wanted” notice has ever been issued or published against the applicant or its directors on the agency’s official website, where persons officially declared wanted are ordinarily listed.
EOCO said the only public statement referenced by the applicants was a general press release dated 30th March 2026, issued before an ex-parte interim injunction was granted.
The agency insisted the release did not amount to a formal wanted declaration, but was a response to media discussions on the matter.
The anti-graft body added that the continued online visibility of that earlier press release cannot be interpreted as a fresh declaration or maintenance of any wanted status against Dr. Atokple or the directors of Sesi-Edem Company Limited.
The clarification follows legal action by Sesi-Edem, which is seeking court orders to restrain EOCO from maintaining a purported wanted declaration and from interfering with the company’s operations and its directors.
The case remains before the court as both parties contest the legal and factual issues arising from EOCO’s investigations and public communications.
