The Honourable Kofi Totobi Quakyi,
My Father, my Mentor, and Anchor of our Cause.
I write this day, the 14th of November, not merely to mark the calendar, but to honour the culmination of seventy years of principled dedication to state and ideology.
As a younger kindred soul who stands today at 45, I have long observed your journey with profound respect, drawing essential lessons from your unwavering consistency and reserved discipline.
Your life, dating back to your formative years at the University of Cape Coast, has been a masterclass in the intersection of education and activism.
Long before you held the high offices of state, your service as President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) defined you as a leader willing to fight for organization and justice. This initial commitment to the youth movement and organized labour, culminating in your work as Secretary for the Trades Union Congress (TUC), established the revolutionary fire that has sustained you across decades of political turbulence.
The true testament to your character, however, lies in your remarkable tenure as Secretary and Minister for Information, spanning sixteen unbroken years from 1985 to 2001. This longevity is an unparalleled demonstration of trust and political fortitude.
During that critical period, encompassing the PNDC military government and the formative years of the NDC’s democratic rule, your role was not merely administrative; it was the indispensable defense of the mission.
You were the institutional anchor who guaranteed the stability and continuity of our ideological project, proving that political reliability was, and remains, the ultimate currency in state-building.
We, the next generation of loyalists, often discuss how your deliberate and stand-offish disposition shielded you from the transient temptations of public politics, allowing you to focus on strategic execution.
In a political environment prone to noise, your quiet diligence became a powerful symbol of integrity, a model for those who believe that true service is often rendered out of the public gaze.
Father, as you enter this seventh decade, your strategic wisdom continues to shape the nation’s direction.
Your high-level responsibilities, from the critical transition of the National Security apparatus to your ongoing oversight as Chairman of the National Communications Authority, confirm your sustained command over the levers of modern governance.
The necessity of protecting regulatory integrity and ensuring strategic security in the digital age is now more acute than ever.
It is toward this enduring legacy that I humbly direct my ambition. My professional life and political convictions have prepared me to become a discreet and capable executor of your vision.
I seek the privilege of serving under your guidance, offering my energy, loyalty, and skills to reinforce the institutional integrity you have so carefully established.
I understand that your influence is considerable and often exercised strategically through critical networks; I desire only the opportunity to prove myself a trustworthy and capable asset within that sphere of strategic action.
On this significant milestone, my prayer is that your 70th year brings you immense health and the deep satisfaction of knowing your foundational work is secure.
I earnestly pray that you may find a brief window in your schedule to invite your son, this kindred soul, to receive your counsel and discuss how I might best dedicate my service to our collective mission and honour the enormous strategic opportunities you have created.
With deepest respect and reverence for your lifetime of dedication.
Your Loyal Son and Kindred Soul,
Raymond Ablorh
