Residents of Fuveme in the Anlo District of the Volta Region received a high-profile visit as John Dramani Mahama toured the community to assess the destruction caused by recent tidal waves.
The coastal town has been severely affected, with several homes destroyed and many families displaced after waves swept through parts of the area.

During the visit, Mr. Mahama interacted with affected residents, observing firsthand the extent of the damage and the challenges now facing the community.

He acknowledged the scale of the devastation and emphasized the urgent need for both immediate relief and long-term solutions to protect vulnerable coastal communities.
According to him, addressing coastal erosion and tidal wave impacts requires coordinated intervention, including improved sea defense systems and support for displaced families.

Residents shared their experiences, describing how the waves inundated homes and forced many to seek temporary shelter. Some called for swift government intervention to restore livelihoods and prevent future occurrences.
The visit highlights growing concerns over coastal vulnerability in the Volta Region, as communities continue to grapple with the effects of tidal waves and erosion. Authorities are expected to outline further measures in the coming days to support recovery efforts and strengthen resilience along the coastline.
