President John Dramani Mahama has paid a courtesy call on the Awoemefia of Anlo, Togbui Sri III, at his palace in Anloga as part of his tour of coastal communities in the Volta Region.

The visit formed a brief but significant stop between Mr. Mahama’s inspection of the tidal wave disaster at Fuveme and his engagement at the Blekusu Sea Defence Project Phase Two.

At the palace in Anloga, discussions believed to have focused on the growing threat of coastal erosion and tidal waves affecting communities along the eastern coastline. The courtesy call also underscored the importance of collaboration between political leadership and traditional authorities in addressing environmental and humanitarian challenges.

Mr. Mahama’s broader visit to the Southern part of the Region aimed at assessing damage caused by recent tidal waves, engaging affected residents, and highlighting the need for sustained investment in coastal protection infrastructure.
The stopover at the Anlo Traditional Area reflects the role of local leadership in shaping responses to the ongoing coastal crisis and supporting efforts to safeguard vulnerable communities.
